Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions. Click on the question to find an answer.

How To Load & Install OhanaMe: To Make It Ready For Use
  • Search for OhanaMe app from the App Store on your iPhone.
  • Select OhanaMe, download the app once download completes, open OhanaMe.
  • A message “Allow “OhanaMe” to access your location?,” tap “Always Allow.
  • Next you will see End User License Agreement, tap “Agree” in order to proceed.
  • A message “OhanaMe” Would Like to Send You Notifications,” tapAllow.”
  • If you received an invitation to be a Ohana responder, your account is set up. Your account number is your mobile phone or landline number with a default PIN of 1234.
  • If you do not have an account set up, tap on “Create A New Account,” it will take you to Create A New Account page to set up a new account. Your default PIN is 1234.
  • If your account is already set up, enter your Phone number and your PIN to login.
  • If you login as an Initiator you will be see the Initiator page, if you are login as a Responder you will see the Responder.
How To Setup Alert Contacts
  1. Tap on “Home” and select “Alert Contacts” takes you to the Alert Contact.
  2. Tap on “+” at top right corner takes you to the Add Contact You can add contact manually or use “Add from phone contacts.”
  3. For manual entry, enter contact details then tap on “Done.”
  4. For Phone Contacts, tap on “Add from phone contacts,” you will see this message “OhanaMe would like to access your contacts,” select “OK” to continue to the Contacts.
  5. Select a contact to add, tap on “Done” to return back to the Alert Contacts.
How To Setup An OhanaMe Responder
  1. Tap on “Home” and select “Settings” at top left corner takes you to the Settings.
  2. Select “Initiator” you will see the Ohana Limit your plan supports.
  3. Your contacts are listed under “Choose My Ohana.”
  4. To select a contact to be your Ohana responder, tap the switch right to the contact name to make this contact your Ohana, switch will look like this .
  5. Your Ohana responder can reject being your responder, but until the rejection is manually submitted, all alert notifications will be sent to your Ohana responder.
How To Turn Location Privacy On/Off
  1. Tap on “Home” and select “Settings” at top left corner takes you to the Settings.
  2. Select “Initiator” you will see “Location Privacy” turned “On” (green) by default, this mean your OhanaMe responders can only see your location during an active alert or Monitor 5 Mins.
  3. Tap the switch right of “Location Privacy” to turn it “Off,” switch will become white.
  4. Now your Ohana responders can see your location at all times.
How To Register Your One Button Bluetooth Device
  1. The one button device must be registered with the app before it can be used.
  2. Tap on “Home” and select “Settings” at top left corner takes you to the Settings.
  3. Select “Devices” you will see the “One-Button Alert Device.”
  4. Tap on “>” right of the “Register Device” takes you to the Register Device.
  5. Place the device next to your iPhone, the app scans and lists the device(s) found.
  6. Tap on the device you want to register and wait for the “Connected” message to show, then tap on “OK.”
  7. The registration is not completed till you press the one button alert device for2 seconds and release, you will see the LED blinks 5 times to confirm the Bluetooth connection. Tap “OK” to return back to the Setting devices page.
  8. Check your device is working by pressing on the button for 1 second and release. Your Ohana responder should get an alert notification.
How To Initiate An Alert From The App
  1. In order to send an alert, you must have an Initiator account already set up, responder only account cannot send an alert.
  2. Tap “Initiator” on the bottom of the screen takes you to the Initiator.
  3. Tap on “SEND ALERT” button. If this is the first time using the app, you’ll see a message “OhanaMe” would like to access the microphone to record alert related message. Tap “OK” to continue.
  4. The microphone will turn from green to red to start recording. Once recording time ends in ~15 seconds or you tap on the microphone to end the recording, you will hear the alert sound plays.
  5. The “SEND ALERT” changed to “ALERT SENT,” you will be added to a conference call with your Ohana responders.
How To Use Monitor 5 Mins
  1. Tap “Initiator” on the bottom of the screen takes you to the Initiator.
  2. Tap “Monitor 5 MINS” initiates an alert after 5 minutes, the countdown begins right away.
  3. The microphone will turn from green to red to start recording. Once 15 second recording time ends or you tap on the microphone to end the recording.
  4. If you tap on the “MONITOR 5 MINS” count down, it will reset the timer back to 5 minutes and microphone will turn on to record a new message. You can repeat this reset for 4 times, on the 5th try, you’ll be ask to enter your PIN# to continue.
  5. Thirty seconds before the end time, you will hear a warning tone reminding you the “MONITOR 5 MINS” is ending, you can cancel the alert or ignore it. Once the countdown ends it will trigger an alert.
How To Use Monitor Me
  • Tap “Initiator” on the bottom of the screen takes you to the Initiator.
  • Tap “Monitor Me” takes you to the Monitor Me Setting.
  • “Starts” shows the current time, you can change the start time to past or future time.
  • “Length” is the duration you want to be monitored.
  • “Ends” is the end time calculated based on the Starts + Length time.
  • Tap “Done” takes you back to the Initiator page and the monitor begins.
  • The microphone will turn from green to red to start recording. Once 15 second recording time ends or you tap on the microphone to end the recording.
  • The “MONITOR ME” changed to “ACTIVE” if the start time has started, otherwise you will see “SET,” if the start time is in the future.
How To Cancel An Alert
  1. Only active or scheduled alert can be canceled.
  2. Tap “Initiator” on the bottom of the screen takes you to the Initiator.
  3. Tap on “I’M SAFE” button takes you to the PIN page. Enter your PIN# takes you to the End Alert.
  4. Select or enter a message to end this alert, tap “Confirm End” takes you back to the Initiator.
How To View Alert Messages
  1. User messages keeps Initiator in-touch with all Ohana responders.
  2. Tap on “Home” and select “User Messages” on the screen takes you to the User Messages.
  3. You will see a “Selector User Name” listing your name and all your Ohana responder/initiator names. You can select any individual to view a user message log initiated by that person.
  4. Select a name and all the user message log will appear under the “User Messages” from the newest to the oldest.
How To View System Notifications
  1. System messages are any message sent form the Server such as subscription renewal, settings changes, account status etc.
  2. Tap on “Home” and select “System Notifications” on the screen takes you to the System Notifications.
  3. You will see a “Selector User Name” listing you and your Ohana responder/initaitor names. You can select an individual to view a system message log sent to that person.
  4. Select a name and all the system message log will appear below the selected name from the newest to the oldest.
How To Find The Running App Version
  1. Tap on “Home” and locate an icon named “Hamburger” (three sstacked horizontal lines) at top right corner, select that icon.
  2. A list of general features is displayed, under “About” you will see the app version number.
  3. Logout is also located here for you to logout of the app.
How To Change Passcodes
  1. Tap on “Home” and select “Settings” at top left corner takes you to the Settings.
  2. Select “Account” you will see “PIN” “PASSWORD” “Silent Alert PIN” listed under “Passcodes.”
  3. To change your PIN, tap on “Edit” to the right, enter current PIN# takes you to the Change PIN page, enter a new pin in the box next to the “New PIN,” then tap on “Save.” If you change your mind not to make any change, tap on “Cancel” either way the app takes you back to “Settings.”
  4. The same steps are used for changing Password and Silent PIN.
How To Change Your Contact Information
  1. Tap on “Home” and select “Settings” at top left corner takes you to the Settings.
  2. Select “Account” you will see “Contact Information.”
  3. Tap on “Edit” right of “Contact Information,” enter PIN# takes you to the Edit Contact info.
  4. Tap on “Edit” right of the contact info you want to change, make the change select “Save” or select “Cancel” if you decide to not change, app takes you back to the Settings.
How To Add Non-Responder To An Active Alert
  1. Any user on the conference call can add a person such as neighbor, doctor, friend to an ongoing conference call, besides the Ohana responders.
  2. To add a person to the conference call, tap “Alerts” at the bottom of the screen and it will take you the Active Alert page, you will see all ongoing active alert. Select the alert you want the person to join, then select “Add Caller To Conference” takes you to the Add Caller page, you will see a dial up box at the bottom of that page for you to manually add the telephone number of the person to join the call, tap on the telephone handset to make the call.
  3. If the call was successfully placed, that person can join the conference call.
